She is an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, Tony-nominated actress, bestselling author, director, Celebrity Apprentice-winner, and savvy businesswoman known for overcoming the odds to reinvent herself and her career time and time again.
The host of E!’s Fashion Police red carpet award show specials, Rivers turned the specials into a weekly hour-long program. Fashion Police airs worldwide, from Australia to Mozambique to South Korea to Kuwait to Argentina. Along with her daughter, Melissa, Joan stars in the hit reality show Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best. She also hosts In Bed with Joan, a half-hour, no-holds-barred interview web series, which launched in 2013, and has been the host of How’d You Get So Rich. She used her business expertise to win the 2009 season of The Celebrity Apprentice.
Rivers performs her stand-up comedy routines for sold-out audiences worldwide. She made her breakthrough performance on The Tonight Show, with the show’s new host, Johnny Carson, in 1965. Since beginning her career in the late-1950’s, Rivers has appeared on dozens of shows including The Carol Burnett Show, Hollywood Squares, and Saturday Night Live.
As a speaker, Rivers gives audiences a frank look at her life and the challenges she has met throughout her decades in show business. Her humor, compassion, and resolve have helped her triumph over personal tragedy and achieve extraordinary professional success.
Her autobiographical play, The Joan Rivers Theatre Project: A Work in Progress by a Life in Progress, enjoyed successful runs in the US and UK. The critically acclaimed, revealing documentary Joan Rivers – A Piece of Work showcased the tremendous drive behind Rivers’ career.
Author of the bestsellers Bouncing Back and Still Talking, Rivers’ ninth and tenth books are Murder at the Academy Awards and Men Are Stupid…And They Like Big Boobs. Her latest bestseller, I Hate Everyone…Starting With Me, was published in June 2012.
