Today is February 23, 2018 -
Throughout the year, I have been sharing news and personal stories about our friends in Eshkol. Between November and February, they have graciously hosted more than 120 members of our community; including participants from our Israel Mission, Teen Mission, as well as one of our local synagogue missions. In addition to these group trips, several community members from the Capital Region traveled on personal trips to Israel, each spending a day touring the Eshkol Region and forming relationships with our friends. We have developed strong bonds and a true affection for each other. I am very proud of how our community stepped up during the summer crisis, offering not only financial assistance, but also personal support. Dozens of phone calls were made, texts and emails sent, particularly by our teenage contingent.
Now we have the opportunity to be the hosts.
Six members of the Partnership Steering Committee (PSC) will be arriving this Wednesday to spend five days in our community. We are looking forward to offering them home hospitality and touring them around our area. (Hopefully, they will have the opportunity to see our beautiful changing leaves, rather than our beautiful white snow.) The PSC looks forward to speaking with our Hebrew School students and mingling with congregants at Shabbat services.
Please join us next Sunday, November 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the Schenectady JCC for a community reception to formally welcome our friends from Eshkol. There will be delicious food and great company. We will hear their personal stories about life in Israel and how the conflict has affected each of them personally. We are pleased to invite you to join us in spending time with these wonderful people. Hopefully, they will be your hosts on your next trip to Israel! Click here to register and for more information.
