It’s time for Shabbat

More than once this week I asked, “Is it Shabbat yet?”

We kicked off the week with a fundraising event on Sunday night. I don’t usually like to talk about fundraising because I don’t want people to think about Federation as only a fundraising organization, but in truth, without fundraising, we wouldn’t be able to accomplish everything else that we do. So, Sunday night we raised money. My thanks to all of our generous donors who appreciate Federation’s mission and the good work that we do.

Monday night we hosted Gil Troy at Union College. I left that program early to run to an Israel Bonds program. It is critical that we support other organizations as well, for as Hillel asked, “If I am only for myself, what am I?”

Tuesday night we again hosted Gil Troy, this time at the University at Albany.

Wednesday night we held our inaugural program for the parents of olim.

Thursday night we showed our solidarity for Israel with a prayer service at Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob.

With the sun setting in a few hours, I have nothing on my calendar for a full 25 hours, and I have a stack of new comic books that need reading
