- On January 8, I shared with you that our friend Bishop Edward Scharfenberger of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany agreed to speak with us, with details to follow. I can now share that he will speak on Tuesday evening March 8, 7:00 p.m., at Temple Israel, about what the Vatican’s new documents mean for Catholic-Jewish relations. Please mark your calendars. This should be an outstanding interfaith program.
- On January 15, I wrote about the importance of visiting Israel to show our solidarity with our people. The amazing response over the last two weeks from our wonderful community has been overwhelming–10 people immediately rearranged their schedules for the last week in March and booked the trip. Our friends in Eshkol are so appreciative and are really looking forward to our visit.
- Last week, I wrote about Super Sunday. It is coming up this weekend. I thank all the people who called me this week to pre-pledge, giving us a great jump start for the event. Remember to please answer our call and give generously. Our national motto this year is that your gift to Federation allows you to “do good everywhere–from anywhere.”
I’ll be out of town at a conference next week with my colleagues from other Federations. Hopefully, I’ll be bringing back some new program ideas for our community.
