Today is August 19, 2018 -
A couple of weeks ago, I shared a “small world” story involving my daughter in Israel.
I am going to top it this week with story about my daughter in California.
A family most recently from Cleveland moved to a small town in Vermont for a job opportunity. The family ended up in my synagogue one Shabbat morning and after an introductory conversation with my wife, the two moms learned that they both had daughters living in the Los Angeles area. The daughters were introduced and after a few minutes, they realized that my daughter’s roommate of three weeks was a previous roommate and best friend of the other daughter.
There are over 4 million people in LA, over 650,000 of whom are Jewish, making this story statistically “impossible.” And yet, how many of us are actually surprised?
