On Sunday, March 11, 7:00 PM at Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob, 380 Whitehall Road, Albany, Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York is hosting a community-wide Joint Society Event featuring Dr. Michael Bar-Zohar, bestselling author, former member of the Knesset, and biographer of Ben Gurion and Shimon Peres. Dr. Bar-Zohar will present on “Greatest Missions of the Israeli Secret Service.” In addition, the evening includes a wine, cheese, and dessert reception.
Dr. Bar-Zohar was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1938 and immigrated to Israel in 1948. He served in Air Force Intelligence and Paratroopers. As a solider he participated in four of Israel’s wars. After the Six Day War, Dr. Bar-Zohar was appointed spokesman and media adviser to his longtime friend, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan.
A working historian, Dr. Michael Bar-Zohar has published many non-fiction books based on his own intensive research, two of which became huge international bestsellers. He is also the official biographer of David Ben-Gurion, the founder of the State of Israel.
Dr. Bar-Zohar is one of the most popular Israeli speakers in the US today. He is often interviewed in the American media, and has been hosted by CNN News, ABC, CBS, NBC, Larry King Live, Nightline, and C-Span.
