I love breakfast
Federation offers a variety of interesting programs throughout the year. We engage committees to look through bios of available speakers and, typically, fill our calendar months and often years in advance. On the one hand, this approach gets people involved and keeps us from the stress of last-minute bookings. On the other hand, we give up the ability to be responsive, timely, and flexible.
So, last year we introduced our new breakfast series. This new series gives us the flexibility to take advantage of speakers when they are in town and invite in people for timely discussions. We have heard from the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) discussing the refugee situation, local law enforcement discussing security, Hand in Hand discussing efforts in Israel to bring together Jews in Arabs in schools.
This coming Thursday, we will have the opportunity to hear from Sarah Timm. Sarah had enough of the anti-Semitism in France and moved to Israel. She is in the U.S. for a couple of weeks speaking for the Jewish Agency, and her message is both compelling and, unfortunately, timely.
