Did you know? – ILN & Inclusion
My older son is having such a good time in college that he rarely comes home to visit. On his way out our door at the end of his winter break, he said, “See you at Seder.”
However, he did come home once, unexpectedly, this past fall to attend the Bar Mitzvah celebration of one of his special-needs campers from this past summer.
Jewish Federation provides funding to our religious schools and summer camps to enable them to support our kids with individual learning needs (iln). Our goal for iln support is to best integrate kids into learning environments to maximize Jewish experiences. B’nai mitzvah celebrations are amazing products of this very special work.
February was Jewish Disability Awareness & Inclusion Month (JDAIM). Jewish Federation hosted or sponsored a plethora of community events to celebrate inclusion and bring awareness, including a musical performance, swimming, a sensory gym, a sensory hour at the Crossgates LEGO exhibit, movies, and discussions.
Now, we need your help. We want to do more, but we can only work with what we know, and we do not know enough. If applicable to your family, please respond to this survey
or forward the survey to those for whom it might be applicable. Many thanks.
