Teen Tour to Israel | February 12-23, 2020

Is a teen in your life looking for an unforgettable experience? February 12-23, 2020, Jewish Federation of NENY is hosting a Teen Tour to Israel, and the anticipation is growing!

While forming life-long friendships, your teen will tour the Western Wall and the Old City, celebrate a special Shabbat in Jerusalem, experience home hospitality in Eshkol, spend a day in the life of local teen, meet IDF soldiers, explore natural wonders of Israel, and so much more!

The full cost of the trip is $3,500. Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York is underwriting the trip: $1,000 per teen (for those who did not go on this trip previously), reducing the initial cost to $2,500 per teen.

If finances are an issue, please be in touch immediately. Ample scholarships* are available. Our donors want to ensure that finances are not an issue for anyone who wants to go on the trip. The scholarship process will begin after deposits have been received.

Applications may be found HERE. Please complete the application and send it along with a $250 deposit by Thursday, November 7 to secure your spot. If you do not have complete information for the application (generally health insurance changes and passport information), there will be ample time at orientation meetings to complete it.

Before you complete the application, please review this checklist to ensure your teen will get the most out of this trip. My teen:

  • Wants to go on this trip and is motivated to make it a very positive experience.
  • Understands that we are in a foreign country and there are rules and customs different from what we generally experience.
  • Is able to handle approximately 24 hours of travel to and from Israel and will be able to adapt to potential delays (including unexpected overnight layovers).
  • Is able to adapt to a potential sudden change in the schedule and will cooperate with instructions.
  • Understands that we are going to be in Jerusalem for the first Shabbat. Our trip will highlight the beauty of Shabbat and will be Shabbat and kashrut observant.
  • Understands that we are in Eshkol for several days. It is unlikely, but possible, that the situation on the border will escalate, and we will need to run quickly to the safe rooms. If this arises, we are very likely to evacuate to another part of the country. Very specific directions MUST be followed immediately and without question.
  • Will follow directions carefully and without argument with the group leaders. Decisions are made for safety reasons and may not always be obvious to the teens.
  • We hope your teen will join us on this very exciting and life-changing trip. We can’t wait to share the experience!

For more information, please call Marci Galinkin, (518) 783-7800 ext. 239, or Rob Kovach, (518) 526-6888.

*Teen Tour scholarships will not affect any other potential scholarships given by Jewish Federation for summer programs.
