Trooper Rothwein is a 34-year veteran of the New York State Police. Starting his career in 1992, he was originally stationed at SP Middletown in Troop F, then served SP Selkirk, New Scotland, and Westerlo in Troop G and is currently assigned to SP Latham. Trooper Rothwein was a School Resource Officer and served the Berne Knox Westerlo CSD from 2003 to 2010. In his current assignment, since 2016, he is the Troop G School and Community Outreach Coordinator. Troop G serves 10 counties in the Capital District area. He works with any of the 85 public schools, private schools and colleges in Troop G. He teaches and assists in emergency response protocols, designing school safety plans, coordinating drills and student education. He works with local businesses and places of worship conducting security assessments and training in critical incident/active shooter response as well as many other safety topics. He is also the liaison for community groups requesting State Police participation in their community events.
