If your ancestors arrived between 1880 & 1930, they probably used the immigrant press to learn about life in their new home. Yiddish language newspapers served as a bridge between the old and new worlds and also way for these Immigrants to learn about their new lives. Kenneth Levine's talk will center on Samuel Joshua Rocker, a Rabbi turned Editor of Die Yiddishe Velt and the impact his writings had on Jewish immigrant life in the industrial Midwest.
The lecture is free and breakfast provided by the Men's Club will include bagels & lox, scrambled eggs and other items.
