CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION SEMINAR

Successfully Navigating the Turbulence of Washington and Wall Street: Private Wealth and Philanthropic Planning in Uncertain Times

Featuring Edward J. Beckwith

Nationally recognized for his expertise and commitment as counsel to high-net-worth families and charitable organizations, Ed Beckwith, a partner at Baker Hostetler, Washington DC, advises families, family offices, and their advisors on the tax-efficient accumulation, management, and transfer of personal wealth. He brings deep experience in the legal and administrative structures that support charitable and educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and trade associations.

Ed is frequently sought after for guidance on governance, best practices, and compliance related to tax-exempt status, as well as for his counsel on the tax and practical aspects of philanthropic giving and funding strategies. A key part of his practice focuses on applying tax law to family and business financial arrangements, including the preparation and administration of wealth transfer plans, and representation before legislative, regulatory, and judicial bodies.

A leader in professional education, Ed has lectured nationally throughout his career and published extensively, including with the American Law Institute and The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He regularly chairs continuing education programs for private wealth professionals and has served for over 40 years as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center, where he teaches and directs a graduate certificate program in Advanced Estate and Charitable Planning.
