Save the Date, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. ET for a Zoom conversation with Joseph Gitler, founder of Leket Israel, the leading food rescue organization in Israel. Gitler, a New Yorker who immigrated to Israel in 2000, started this operation in 2003 as as a one-man volunteer, to respond to the growing hunger and poverty in Israel while recognizing the significant waste in the food industry. Today, Leket supplies surplus food and nutritional support to over 200 nonprofit organizations serving more than 175,000 people in Israel weekly. Joseph is the recipient of several awards, including the coveted Presidential Award for Volunteerism from former President Shimon Peres.
