Ken Lovett is going to talk about the upcoming elections and how politics and the media have changed over the years, particularly the diminishing public faith in both

Ken spent three decades as an award-winning reporter, including 25 years covering the New York State Capitol for such publications as the Daily Days, for which he was the Albany bureau chief for nearly 11 years, and the New York Post. During his tenure at the Capitol, he covered five governors, from Mario Cuomo to Andrew Cuomo, and three New York City mayors. His Monday “Albany Insider” column with the Daily News sought to break news and was well read by New York political junkies.

In addition to New York politics, Ken covered the aftermath of the 9-11 terrorist attacks and the 2000 presidential recount in Florida. He attended several national political conventions, traveled on the campaign trail with the Barack Obama campaign in 2008, and covered the 2005 trial in Los Angeles of Hillary Clinton’s then chief fundraiser.

After leaving journalism in 2019, Ken spent two years as a senior advisor to the Chair and CEO of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), North America’s largest mass transit system, where he engaged in high-level policy, political, and media strategizing.

Currently, Ken is a partner at Ichor Strategies, a New York City-based consulting firm that is the largest Black-owned professional services firm in the country. At Ichor, Ken heads up the firm's public sector practice.

Ken has been a capital region resident for nearly a quarter of a century, and lives just outside of Troy with his wife, Amy, and two daughters. He and his family are proud members of the Congregation Berith Sholom.
