In light of recent events both locally and nationally, we are standing up together against hate. In light of these situations, we here at Temple Israel will have armed security on Shabbat morning and the Albany Police Department has committed to providing additional presence throughout the City.
As you may have heard, there was an anti-semitic incident this past Shabbat (Saturday, Oct. 29) in which a group of visibly Jewish children were surrounded by a group of teenagers on bikes yelling "Free Palestine" on New Scotland Avenue, outside New Scotland Elementary School. One of the teenagers assaulted one of the Jewish children by slapping him on the head. Unfortunately, this is just one case of many acts of hatred going on locally.
Join Temple Israel, Ohav Shalom, and Agudat Achim Saturday night (11/5) at 7:00 PM on zoom for a brief program, ritual, and a chance to come together and SAY NO TO HATE! It is a power message for our community to stand together and begin every week united against hatred, fear, and bigotry.
We challenge each and every one of you to begin each week standing up against hate:
if you see something, say something and most importantly, have personal awareness.
If you experience anti-semitic language or actions, or are aware of others in our community who have had to endure such inappropriate behavior, please contact our Main Office any time. We must all stand together against those who would harass and harm us for being proud Jews.
