Havurah Vatik July Event: Fabric Memoirs

11:00AM - 12:00PM

Virtual Event

HAVURAH VATIK July 2021 Zoom Event :
"Fabric Memoirs: Meet the Mishpacha" a presentation by artist Susan Rivers

A multimedia slide presentation by fabric artist Susan Rivers introduces you to her family and her fiber art techniques. Through a series of video vignettes, Susan sings the praises of fabric and its importance in our lives. She offers examples of her work and demonstrates how her pieces are created.
Through her work, Susan captures memories and honors her subjects. We will be privileged to follow Susan's trail of a life weaving together environmental activism, community service and many forms of fiber art.

Susan Rivers has been experimenting and creating with fabric for over 50 years. Her infatuation began with the fabric swatches her grandfather would bring home from his work in the Garment District of New York City. Her work is grounded in tradition while embracing evolving technologies. Working out of her studio, Greentree Fiber Arts, Susan displays and sells her work through museum shops, art galleries, and her website. Her work has been featured in magazines and on WNYT Channel 13.
