A devoted scholar and tireless advocate for Jewish immigrants, Szold founded Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, in 1912 and went on to transform healthcare, education, and social services in pre-state Palestine. Her commitment to human dignity knew no boundaries: she helped build a modern healthcare system serving Jews and Arabs alike and, through Youth Aliyah, played a pivotal role in rescuing 11,000 Jewish children from Nazi-occupied Europe and bringing them to safety.
