Executive functions are the skills we use to self-regulate, plan, get organized, and learn from our mistakes. Some children, especially those with ADHD, ASD, or learning disorders struggle with executive functioning skills. This can look like forgetting homework assignments, getting easily distracted in school or at home, or feeling overwhelmed and avoiding simple chores or homework. In this workshop, Hayley Humiston will share information about how to better recognize and understand the executive functioning skills your child struggles with and specific strategies to better support their development.
Hayley Humiston is a clinical intern with Jewish Family Services. She will complete her MSEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the College of Saint Rose in May 2023. She has multiple years of experience teaching, tutoring, and developing curriculum on executive functioning skills.
