Jewish Federation of NENY, in partnership with our local Jewish organizations, is working hard to support and ensure that we have a strong, vibrant, and connected Jewish community in the greater Capital Region.

NEW DATE! Join Women’s Philanthropy on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 7:00 PM for A Virtual Snapshot of the Albany and Schenectady Jewish Community Centers and Jewish Family Services of NENY moderated by Jewish Federation President & CEO, Rob Kovach.

Federation rallied in response to COVID-19, ensuring that our community members and local organizations received support in a time of crisis. Most recently, Federation raised and is allocating more than $200,000 to address the mounting human services needs in the Capital Region magnified by the pandemic.

Hear from two new executives of Jewish organizations that faced the pandemic head-on and are recipients of the Federation’s Human Services Relief Grant.

David Posner, the newly appointed CEO of both the Albany and Schenectady Jewish Community Centers (JCCs), will share his experience of being the inaugural, joint CEO of two independent JCCs that are working collaboratively, but with no intent to merge; a concept introduced by Federation. David will provide insight on assuming this unique position in the midst of a pandemic. He calls it "Field Notes from a Social Experiment in an Age of Plague."

In August of 2019, Jane Ginsburg began as the president and CEO of Jewish Family Services of NENY (JFS). Little did she know that she would face managing JFS during a pandemic just months into her leadership. JFS has launched three different programs to address food insecurity, four new efforts to support mental and emotional wellness, and five new programs just for seniors. With Federation’s support, JFS will launch additional programs to address financial security and more as they continue to evolve to meet the needs of our community. In October, JFS moved their administrative offices to the Federation building.

In ongoing efforts to consolidate communal resources and take advantage of natural synergies, Federation spearheaded both the joint CEO position for the JCCs and the relocation of JFS.

Free, virtual, and open to the community. Instructions to join are provided with registration.
