DOES “HAMILTON” Get Hamilton Right? with returning keynote, Dr. Ralph Nurnberger
“HAMILTON” fever has swept America. The show’s detailed presentation of the founding period’s complicated politics, presented with Lin-Manuel Miranda’s dazzling rap lyrics, appeals to audiences of all ages.
“HAMILTON” depicts the concerns of the 18th century in terms that mirror similar contemporary issues in a way that helps theatre-goers to better understand the past as well as the present. The show focuses on incredibly volatile partisan politics and such issues as race, gender, multiculturalism, immigration, and the foundations of our government.
$36 per person | Catered dinner, wine, and dessert reception
Everyone is welcome!
Dr. Ralph Nurnberger’s presentation will analyze the accuracy of the musical, as well as how it deals with past and contemporary issues, in an effort to determine if “HAMILTON” gets Hamilton right.
Dr. Nurnberger is a respected keynote of the Capital Region Jewish Community and an acclaimed speaker who brings humor, current political insights, and historical background to his presentations.
In January, Dr. Nurnberger was a featured speaker on a Smithsonian Journeys sponsored cruise to “Hamilton’s Caribbean,” where he led talks on Alexander Hamilton and on the historical accuracy and relevance of the famous Broadway show. He has also spoken at universities and other venues on topics related to Hamilton, Aaron Burr, the Duel, and the accuracy of the musical.
Dr. Nurnberger is a former professor of history and international relations at Georgetown University, where he taught for 38 years. He was named “Professor of the Year” by the graduate school of liberal studies in 2003, and in 2005 he received a university award for excellence in teaching for more than two decades.
He is a senior partner in a Washington, D.C., government relations firm, Nurnberger & Associates.
