Inspired by the authors’ own family history, Shaunna J. Edwards and internationally bestselling author Alyson Richman come together to collaborate on a rich historical novel set during the Civil War.
The Thread Collectors, follows two women: one Black and yearning for freedom in New Orleans, the other a Jewish abolitionist in New York, whose resourceful sewing to support their communities leads them both on unexpected, dangerous journeys. As they undertake extraordinary risks to bring their partners home from the front lines of the war, their pathways will collide in unexpected and ultimately uplifting ways.
Shaunna J. Edwards has a BA in literature from Harvard College, and a JD from NYU School of Law. She works in diversity, equity and inclusion. The Thread Collectors is her first novel.
We are excited to welcome Alyson Richman back to the Capital Region. She is the author of several historical novels, including The Velvet Hours, The Garden of Letters, and The Lost Wife, which is currently in development for a major motion picture.
