Where Your Money Goes

Here at home and across the globe, the Jewish Federation is dedicated to supporting, sustaining, and revitalizing Jewish life. But we can’t do it alone. Your generosity makes it all possible—allowing us to meet the needs of our community in ways no other organization can.

Your gift has a profound impact—bringing a Purim storybook to the doorstep of an interfaith family, opening the doors of a Jewish day school through scholarships, providing Hebrew classes at a senior center, and sparking meaningful conversations at an Israeli film festival. These are just a few of the countless ways your support strengthens Jewish community and culture.

The Allocation Process

The allocation of Community Campaign funds is a fair, democratic, and participatory process. Dedicated committee volunteers invest countless hours over several months to ensure that every dollar you give supports the programs that have the greatest impact—addressing critical needs in our community while strengthening and sustaining Jewish life both locally and globally.

Community Programming

Funds are thoughtfully allocated to support Jewish Federation programming that is relevant, educational, and inclusive. These investments help build and sustain a vibrant, engaged community—ensuring that all Jews in the region have meaningful opportunities to connect with and participate in Jewish life.

Local Allocations

Funds are allocated to local Jewish agencies and programs for maximum impact, to collectively support what have always been our community’s priorities—caring for people in need, connecting individuals and families to the Jewish community, and providing opportunities to discover personal Jewish identities.

Global Allocations

Funds are allocated to national and international programs that combat global Jewish poverty, strengthen connections among Jewish communities, and provide vital rescue efforts for Jews at risk.

Management & General Costs

Like all nonprofit organizations, the Jewish Federation of NENY incurs necessary costs to operate effectively and carry out fundraising efforts. These include staff salaries, building expenses, and other essential overhead. We are committed to managing these resources responsibly, keeping costs as low as possible while ensuring exceptional service to our donors, beneficiaries, and the broader community.
