Beyond The Conflict: Teaching and Learning about Israel and the Middle East
Workshops for area public & private school teachers
Sponsored by Community Relations Department and the Capital District Council for the Social Studies, these programs focus on Israel, and bring authors, professors and other leaders in this field to present to teachers to assist on development of curriculum for balanced presentation on Israel.
Interactive discussions follow the lectures, providing educators with an opportunity to translate their learning into practice. These programs also include opportunities to develop skills in identifying and assessing supplementary teaching materials that engage students and are historically and instructionally sound with special reference to the New York State Standards.
Participants will receive a packet of recommended curricular resources designed to increase students’ critical thinking skills and their understanding of the multiple perspectives that exist in the Middle East.
