Teacher Workshops

Teaching & Learning About Israel & the Middle East

(for area middle & high school teachers)

Sponsored by Jewish Federation Community Relations department and the Capital District Council for the Social Studies

This annual professional-development workshop brings authors, professors, and other leaders in this field to present to educators on how to engage students in unbiased learning about Israel and the Middle East, through balanced curriculum and primary source documents.

This workshop also provides suggestions for aligning curricular content about Israel and its neighbors with New York State Learning standards.

Teaching & Learning About the Holocaust

Sponsored by Holocaust Survivors & Friends Education Center and the Capital District Council for the Social Studies

This workshop assists teachers in lesson development on how prejudice led to genocide in the Holocaust. The workshop also provides curricular resources and experts from the U.S. and around the world to fulfill New York State mandated Holocaust education for its students with lessons and interactive discussions.
