A few weeks ago, we sent out a newsletter to every mailing address in our database. Did you receive it? Did you read through it? Did you like it? Did you learn anything new about Jewish Federation? Should we do it again? If you missed it, please click here for a digital copy.
This newsletter is our latest effort to inform people about what we do. I’ll admit that I’m a little envious of organizations with very simple-to-understand missions. “We feed people.” “We rescue people from natural disasters.” “We care for the most vulnerable.” “We educate children.” “We fight antisemitism.” CEOs can get these missions across during the shortest of elevator rides.
Jewish Federation does all of these things, and much more, while building Jewish community. We do so much that I don’t have a succinct elevator pitch, and we constantly struggle with telling our story. We do have a very good website, which I recommend perusing at your leisure.
The specific language of our mission states “to build and maintain a strong and united Jewish community” and nothing says “strong and united” better than Chanukah on Jay, returning for the fourth consecutive year on Sunday afternoon, December 29.
Every year, an estimated 800 to 1,000 people enjoy our communal celebration. Thank you to our partners at Capital Chabad and the entire Jewish community. Inclement weather forced us indoors last year, but we plan to be back outdoors on Jay Street in front of City Hall this year. Please see click here for details.
