Temple Sinai of Saratoga Springs is a warm and growing Reform congregation committed to creating meaningful Jewish learning experiences and strong community connections for children and families.
Hours: 20 Hours Per Week
Pay: $30-$34/hr
Schedule: Includes onsite Religious School hours on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings, two Friday evening family programming events per month, and flexible administrative and planning hours throughout the week. Some weekday daytime availability is preferred for collaboration with the Temple Administrative Assistant.
Position Overview:
Temple Sinai of Saratoga Springs is seeking a collaborative, organized, and community-oriented Religious School Director to provide leadership for our growing Religious School while helping strengthen youth engagement and family connections across our congregation. This part-time position is ideal for someone with experience in Jewish education, youth engagement, synagogue leadership, or community programming who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys building meaningful relationships with children and families.
This role works closely with the Rabbi, Religious School Committee, Temple administrative staff, teachers, and volunteers within a shared leadership structure. Our committee model provides strong volunteer support and collaborative leadership, while this position serves as the primary coordinator helping ensure outstanding educational programming, operational excellence, and meaningful family engagement.
Core Responsibilities
Lead and oversee weekly Religious School operations and program coordination
Support and supervise teachers while fostering classroom consistency, engagement, and educational excellence
Coordinate family communication, registration, enrollment, attendance, and ongoing engagement
Build relationships with current and prospective families to support enrollment growth and community connection
Coordinate youth programming, student engagement opportunities, and family events
Partner with the Rabbi, Religious School Committee, and Temple staff to support curriculum, programming, and educational goals
Serve as liaison to the Jewish Federation, PJ Library, and community partners
Oversee scheduling, records, classroom logistics, educational resources, and day-to-day administrative operations
Help coordinate holiday programming, school-wide events, and committee-led initiatives
Perform other responsibilities as needed
What We're Looking For
Experience in Jewish education, youth programming, synagogue leadership, education, nonprofit leadership, or a related field preferred
Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, committee-supported leadership environment
A warm, welcoming, and community-oriented leadership style
Excellent follow-through with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Familiarity with Reform Jewish practice, culture, and community life strongly preferred
