On Sunday, February 18th at 1:00 PM, Congregation Berith Sholom (167 Third St., Troy NY, 12180) will host a pivotal event featuring Yehuda Beinin, an outspoken parent and member of the Hostage and Missing Families Forum. The event, titled "From Despair to Hope" will address the urgent need for the release of hostages.

Yehuda Beinin, renowned for his advocacy and personal connection to the issue, is the father of the released American-Israeli hostage, Liat Beinin Atzili, and the father-in-law of the late Aviv Atzili. Raised in Philadelphia, Beinin has resided on Kibbutz Shomrat since 1973.

Beinin will shed light on the dire situation facing hostages, including dual-national Americans, who remain in captivity facing imminent danger. "Considering a new deal that includes the release of hostages – this could not be more urgent," states Beinin. "The situation is dire and deeply personal to me. Some of our fellow dual-national Americans are among the remaining hostages, and they face very real danger and even death each day they stay in captivity."

Beinin understands the situation as a grave test of democracy, yet one which could hold the opportunity for the region to move forward in a positive direction. On October 13, 2023, President Biden, in an hour and a half private Zoom call with eight American families of hostages, including Beinin, laid out his understanding of the 7 October attack on Israel and what he proposed to do about it, stating precisely that it was important "not to waste this crisis."

The event will offer attendees an opportunity to engage with Beinin, gain a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding hostage situations, and explore avenues for advocacy and support. With escalating tensions and the urgent need for diplomatic solutions, Beinin's perspective promises to inspire action and solidarity within the community.

Admission is free, and all are encouraged to attend.
