SEARCH YOUR HOMES FOR BURIED MUSICAL TREASURE!
We are excited to partner with Vanguard., Inc., the volunteer wing of the Albany Symphony Orchestra, in collecting musical instruments in decent condition for donation to Capital District school districts that lack sufficient instruments for the hundreds of eager, music-loving children who yearn to study music and play in their schools' orchestras or bands, but whose parents cannot afford the rental or purchase fees. Donations are tax-deductible. Not only do long-dormant instruments spring back to life, but students' grades, attendance rates, self-confidence, and critical life skills often improve when they learn to play beautiful music at school with their peers. 371 instruments have been collected and distributed to date. Recipient school districts: Albany, Troy, Schenectady, Cohoes, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, and Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk.
The Instrument drive takes place March 27, 11am-3 at Jewish Federation, 184 Wahington Avenue, Extension, Albany. For further information, please contact Jill Rifkin, Instruments for Students, (518) 439-1843 or jrrif@aol.com
