Leadership: A How to on Responding

Have you ever felt off guard or triggered by something someone has said or asked you? As communal leaders, have you found it challenging to respond in the appropriate way?  This is normal – it’s called being human.  Our response in these moments often define us.  Join this workshop to unpack how you personally respond and what you can do to control it!

Irit E. Gross is the Associate Vice-President, FRD Initiatives at the Jewish Federations of North America. She is responsible for developing and implementing core training programs for professionals and volunteers. Previously, she served as Chief of Staff at Birthright Israel Foundation for seven years, managing organizational initiatives forward through the office of the President. Irit played a key role with the leadership of BRIF and, specifically, in the work of establishing Birthright Israel Foundation as the 'best place to work' within the non-profit sector. After completing her undergraduate degree, Irit lived and worked in Spain for four years teaching English to business professionals. Upon return to the United States, before she joined the non-profit sector, she focused her career in Recruitment, Human Resources and Vendor Management at Bank of America and Merrill Lynch. Irit is a trained facilitator and served as Faculty for National Young Leadership Cabinet Retreat; she volunteers as a Facilitator with Resetting the Table, helping organizations and individuals engage in productive conversations relating to Israel. She is a past participant in The Schusterman Fellowship, a leadership development program for individuals who are committed to growing their capacity to exercise leadership in the Jewish community.

Irit lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Brendan, son Gibson and daughter Taylor. In her free time during non-pandemic times, she enjoys soul cycle, traveling, listening to live music, and spending time with friends and family.

This lunch and learn is offered by Jewish Federation of NENY's Community Engagment Parternship and is free to partner agencies and congregations.
