Saratoga Springs, NY. Sun. March 24 — Temple Sinai, with a grant from the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York, returns to host its annual fun-filled Community Purim Carnival. The festivities will take place on Sunday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 50 Pine Rd in Saratoga Springs.
Purim is a holiday celebrating a biblical story about overcoming racism and oppression. It is traditionally celebrated with costume and revelry and has been called "the Jewish Mardi Gras.” It’s the biggest party of the Jewish year. Families and children from the community are welcome to join this program for youngsters of all faiths.
Featuring more than 15 interactive games and activities, children of all ages will also enjoy dance parties, a photo-booth, crafts, snacks and carnival games with prizes galore for everyone (every player wins EVERY time!) A central feature of the Purim holiday is a retelling of the story from a special Hebrew scroll called a megillah- this year’s telling runs from 9:45-10:15 am. The story will be told in English, and will also include many of Temple Sinai’s religious school students reading from the scroll in Hebrew.
“The story of Purim is a universal tale of good guys and bad guys, strong women, betrayal, bravery and redemption. The celebration of Purim is full of costumes, noisemakers, goofiness and festivities. We invite all our friends and supporters to come to the carnival to have fun and celebrate. Wristbands for unlimited games and activities are $10 each. Popcorn, cotton candy, and beverages will be available for purchase.

About Temple Sinai
Located in the historical district of downtown Saratoga Springs New York, Temple Sinai is a Reform synagogue that began in the early 1960’s as a study group of a dozen families. Their love of learning and commitment to community attracted more people and, in 1965, Temple Sinai was established as Saratoga’s Reform synagogue.
