Holocaust survivors gather each summer at an idyllic hideaway in the Catskills where they savor tightly bonded friendships, find new love, and celebrate their survival. Several believe they survived through God’s help or because they were poor and knew better than the rich how to endure; others are convinced that dumb luck saved them. What can Holocaust survival possibly mean but the awesome spectacle of life triumphing over? This film grew out of a series of articles by Andrew Jacobs, a reporter for The New York Times and a novice director.
