Jewish Italy: Food, Culture & Travel
Europe’s oldest Jewish community dates back to 200 BC in ancient Rome. Enjoy a virtual tour of Italy's many Jewish historical sites, while discovering the cucina ebraica, “Hebrew kitchen.” You'll also learn the stories behind different alla giudia, "Jewish way" dishes, from fried artichokes and goose salami to sour cherry cheesecake from Rome’s famed Forno del Ghetto.
FRANCINE SEGAN, one of America's foremost experts on Italian cuisine, will lead this mouth-watering and exploratory experience. Segan has appeared on national programs including, TODAY, PBS, and Food Network, as well as lectured at the Smithsonian Museum, 92nd Street Y, and Canyon Ranch.
A selection of Francine Segan’s recipes will be included with registration. Attendees will have the opportunity to break out into groups to share experiences making one of Segan’s dishes and catch up with friends.
Free, virtual, and open to the community. Instructions to join and recipes are provided with registration.
