Since October 7th, we have seen a truly remarkable outpouring of support for Israel. Locally, we raised an additional $2.1 million (above our normal fundraising for Israel and local needs), which was part of more than $800 million raised by all Jewish Federations of North America. We collected and sent supplies. We traveled to Israel to volunteer. With all that we’ve done, people continue to ask, “What more can I do?”
I’m glad you asked. We are about to have opportunities galore.
With the help of international partners Jewish Agency for Israel and ORT Kadima, we are bringing 46 Israelis (40 teens with six staffers) to our Capital Region, June 30–July 11, for some much-needed respite.
During the weekdays, we’ll have the teens at camp—thanks to the generosity of the JCCs of the Capital Region (Albany and Schenectady) and Camp Givah (Temple Israel). We’ve invited all community partner organizations and synagogues to help us with planning evening and weekend activities.
We need housing for 46 people. We need help with transportation. We need help making lunches. We need planners and funders. The teens need friends.
