Before planning a menu, I ask guests for a list of their food allergies and aversions.
For Rosh Hashanah dinner this year, I entertained a combination of nut-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, no red meat, no onions, no peppers, no mushrooms, low salt, low sugar, low purines, low acid, and no spice.
I plugged all of these requirements into my menu-planning app, which returned with the recommendation that I cancel Rosh Hashanah dinner and invite everyone back for Yom Kippur lunch.
Yom Kippur is Sunday night and Monday. G’mar Chamita Tova—I hope that we all finish with a good sealing and have an easy and meaningful fast.
